“Walk, play better, and enjoy the beauty and serenity of the golf course”

Golf courses have attempted for 50 years to require golfers to ride by establishing policies that favor riding. The primary motivation has been the financial benefit renting riding cars have had on the economics of the golf course. In spite of this effort, surveys done by The National Golf Foundation indicate walkers’ play 50% of the rounds played in the US today. The golf community can no longer ignore the fact that they need a viable revenue-producing product to accommodate the other half of the golfers who don’t want to ride and resent being required to do so.

Icady is an important new source of revenue that will improve the financial performance of golf courses. Icady is a truly “robust commercial grade”, easy to use personal cady designed exclusively for golf course rentals. Icady is currently available for rent at Poppy Hills in Pebble Beach and Quail Lodge Resort in Carmel Valley. It will soon be available “for rent” at all golf courses where golfers want to walk.

With icady's “hands free”, “cruise control” and “straight line tracking” functions, playing with icady is as close as you can get to the experience of playing with a human caddy at a fraction of the cost. Icady allows you to set your personal walking speed and engage cruise control. The straight line tracking function causes the cady to hold a relatively straight-line direction of travel in a hands-off operating mode regardless of the slope of the terrain. This allows the golfer to walk from tee to green just like he would if he were playing with a human caddy.

Because golf is traditionally a walking game where for 450 of golf’s 500 year history everybody walked, there is a significant void in the market for a product with high service value for golfers that want to walk. Icady allows the golfer to play the way the pro’s play without the burden of packing, pulling or pushing 30 pounds of equipment on the 4.5 to 5.0 mile trek around the golf course. The National Golf Foundation and USA today conducted a survey in which they determined that 73% of the golfers playing golf today would prefer to walk. Golf course operators have not had a product that would let them take advantage of this demand for a walking alternative until the introduction of icady. With icady, they can now offer an alternative for their walking customers.
